Melwel Lodge is located 66 miles east of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, just off the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 17). For visitors that wish to fly charter, the Thessalon airport (CPL5) is a 3100’ paved, lit municipal airport at the western end of Big Basswood Lake, approximately 15 minutes from the Lodge. Commercial flights are available through the modern facilities at Sault Ste Marie, Ontario (YAM), or just outside of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan at the Chippewa County airport (CIU).
